Cat’s Tails: Some stories about the cats that we have homed
Pickle
Hi! It’s Pepsi here just letting you know how I’m getting on! I have now lived here for 4 months and I’m loving it. Mummy and daddy call me Pickle now though, which I don’t understand as I’m always so well behaved! I haven’t broken too many ornaments, or ripped up any of the post, or chewed all of mummy’s house plants and I definitely have never woken mummy and daddy up in the middle of the night just for a cuddle!!! Honest!
I really love living here with mummy and daddy. They have bought me loads of toys, my favourite of which is a tall climbing tree like I used to have when I lived with you. It is as just the right height for lots of kissing and bashing, so we call it my kissing post. Christmas was brilliant and my aunties, uncles, nannies and grandads all bought me presents and treats too, I can’t wait for my birthday!
I am not a big fan of going outside, but mummy tells me I’ll probably like it more in the summer when it’s not so cold and she’s out there to play with me. I went out in the snow a little bit the other day with daddy, but my paws got chilly so I soon ran back in!
I have had a bit of a poorly tummy, but it seems to worry mummy more than me. We went to visit the vet and mummy got worried about me, I was fine though, mummy says it’s because she loves me so much and even though I am a bit of a Pickle she couldn’t live without me. There is only one thing I am not so keen about living here. At bedtime I have to race to get into the bed otherwise my daddy steals the space. I would be more than happy if I could sleep in the bed with just mummy, that way I would have more space and there would be no one to pinch the covers!
If you are ever visiting near by mummy says you are more than welcome to see how I’m getting on. Lots of Love Pickle x x x (and her mummy and daddy Julia and Adam)
Rasputin, Doodle, Shelley and Polar
Hooray!
At last, a home has been offered to Rasputin, his two sons and daughter – Polar, Doodle and Shelley. It is a pussy palace with stairs and space for feline frolics. A safe house for learning of people etiquette having lived a totally wild life before with no interaction with humans.
The last report of their settling in was that their thundering of paws along carpeted corridors was proof that their relative inactivity with us had not robbed them of stamina, nor of their appetite for food or play either. These proud and beautiful cats were part of a fourteen strong coloiny living on a farm and surviving from their feral instincts of fear of all new situations. Gradually over the months we have been able to gain their trust until the appropriate and understanding homes have been offered for these shunned cats. They have been homed in pairs or trios for companionship and a sense of security.
In the case of Rasputin, Shelley, Polar and Doodle (so named because he was born in a doodle bug hole in the depths of a forest) this has taken eighteen months and at Rolvenden Cat rescue we do not give up on cats or on finding the right people out there to offer them homes.

Miss Marple
We love to hear from our former residents and hear how they are settling in – Marvel, now Miss Marple has sent us three letters – enjoy!
